PRECON WORKSHOP:
Establishing a Payer Contract Monitoring and Evaluation Process
Payer contracts are one of the most important drivers of practice revenue—yet many organizations enter negotiations without a clear understanding of how their contracts vary between payers and how those contracts actually perform. Even seeing contracts for procedure codes with payer rates for comparison can be very time-consuming. Without modeling the financial impact of proposed changes, even small percentage adjustments can result in significant revenue gains or losses.
This preconference session will teach participants how to develop practical Excel-based tools and templates to analyze payer reimbursement data, RVU production, and payer mix. Attendees will learn how to use Excel’s lookup features to compare payer rates side-by-side, model contract scenarios, evaluate the financial impact of payer proposals, and identify the services and payers that most influence their bottom line.
By building a repeatable process for monitoring and evaluating payer contracts, participants will gain the confidence to enter negotiations with data-driven insights, avoid costly unmodeled counter-proposals, and better manage contract performance after agreements are finalized.
Why Attend
- Save hours of time: Prepare contract data for analysis by using built-in Excel tools to look up payer rates from multiple spreadsheets.
- Build practical Excel tools: Create simple spreadsheets to analyze reimbursement, RVUs, and contract performance.
- Understand your payer mix: Identify which payers, CPT codes, and services drive the greatest revenue in your practice.
- Avoid costly surprises: Learn how unmodeled payer counter-proposals can impact revenue and how to quantify their true financial effect before agreeing to new terms.
- Strengthen negotiation strategy: Enter payer contract discussions with data-backed projections rather than percentage assumptions.
- Monitor performance over time: Establish a repeatable process to track reimbursement accuracy and evaluate whether contracts perform as expected.
*Participants should bring a laptop with Microsoft Excel installed, as the session will include step-by-step exercises building practical tools and templates*

FEATURED KEYNOTE SESSION - Thursday, May 21 Get On The Bull: Navigating The Line Between Grit & Burnout Dallin Cooper is a leadership, conflict resolution, and communication speaker 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM (1.0 CE hour)
Session Description
Bull riding is one of the most extreme sports in the world. Eight seconds of pure chaos, requiring laser-sharp focus. But working in the modern world with its high demands and even higher stakes can feel a lot like climbing onto a 1,600-pound bull every single day. The question isn’t whether challenges will come, it’s whether we have the mindset, grit, and strategy to stay on and ride through them.
Based on Dallin’s powerful book, Get On The Bull, this keynote takes attendees on a transformative journey to embrace challenges head-on. In a world filled with uncertainty, burnout, and growing expectations, true leadership isn’t about avoiding the ride, it’s about learning how to hang on, and eventually even enjoy it.
This highly interactive session explores the fine line between grit and burnout, guides participants through finding their own personal line, and most importantly, provides the tools and tactics to navigate that line in their own lives. Then, when the challenges come and life gets overwhelming (because we all know it will) they’ll face those challenges with grit, and avoid the burnout.
While this program includes a mental health lesson, it isn’t a “mental health talk”, it’s a framework that helps leaders identify where they (and their teams) are thriving, where they are struggling, and what steps can be taken to stay on the bull.
Key Takeaways:
- Understand the difference between healthy perseverance and destructive overwork—and how to push forward without crashing.
- Recognize the ripple effect of your leadership on your family, team, and community, and how to lead with purpose and authenticity.
- Walk away with practical strategies to navigate uncertainty, embrace discomfort, and turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
- Identify steps they can take stop being so dang exhausted and overwhelmed all the time, while still getting the things done that need doing.
Attendee Bonus:
All attendees will receive a free copy of Dallin's book, Get on the Bull: Developing Attitudes and Behaviors for Successful Leadership and an opportunity to have Dallin sign their book after his session.
